ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2000 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. Active in 100+ countries, we influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability.
Being at the Livable Cities Forum is like being among friends — friends that challenge you, inspire you, support you, and motivate you. We don’t have to face the challenges of net-zero action and climate resilience in isolation. The Livable Cities Forum provides an opportunity to connect with others who are on the climate action journey.

Canadian Urban Institute
The Canadian Urban Institute is the national platform that houses the best in Canadian city building – where policymakers, urban professionals, civic and business leaders, community activists and academics can learn, share and collaborate with one another from coast to coast to coast. Through research, engagement and storytelling, CUI promotes effective policies and best practices for building vibrant cities, supporting post-pandemic recovery, and increasing climate resilience. CUI connects and amplifies the diverse voices of urban Canada, in service of a shared value that urbanism is for everyone, and urbanism must include everyone.
Complex urban challenges like climate resilience and post-pandemic recovery require bold solutions that integrate cross-sectoral perspectives from across the country. The Canadian Urban Institute is a proud partner of the Livable Cities Forum—a vibrant event that facilitates robust conversations between leading policymakers, urban professionals and on-the-ground practitioners. By exchanging our innovative ideas and actionable plans, we can all work together to help build more dynamic and equitable cities.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901. Our members include more than 2,000 municipalities of all sizes, from Canada’s cities and rural communities, to northern communities and 20 provincial and territorial municipal associations. Together, they represent more than 90 percent of all Canadians from coast to coast to coast. We advocate for municipalities to be sure their citizens’ needs are reflected in federal policies and programs. Year after year, our work benefits every municipal government and taxpayer in Canada, and our programming delivers tools that help municipalities tackle local challenges.
As a mobilizing partner, FCM is hosting the Multi-level government solutions plenary and the Municipalities for Climate Innovation World Café on Day 2 of the forum. Resources, experiences, and lessons learned from the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program (MCIP) will be shared during the world café. MCIP is a five-year $75-million program, delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada. From 2017-2022, MCIP has helped more than 600 municipalities by providing funding, training and information sharing with the aim of encouraging Canadian municipalities to better prepare for and adapt to the new realities of climate change as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is proud to share some of the key learnings from our Municipalities for Climate Innovation program (2017-2022) at the 2022 Livable Cities Forum. The five-year program leaves a rich legacy of supporting over 600 municipalities in their climate change response activities. FCM remains committed to supporting local governments as they safeguard the future through meaningful climate action while improving their residents’ quality of life.
