2024 LIVABLE CITIES FORUM

Multisolving for a Net-Zero and Resilient Future

Frequently asked questions

Registration

Where can I register?

For all registration information, visit the Registration page of the LCF website.

What do the registration fees include?

Registration fees give delegates access to all sessions, meals, breaks, and networking events. Please note that registration rates do not include applicable taxes — these will be added to your registration during checkout and will be listed as a separate line item on the payment receipt.

Are discounts available?

We are pleased to offer several discount options to make LCF as accessible as possible while covering the hard costs of hosting the Forum. Special rates are available to ICLEI and BARC members, sponsors, and speakers. Please visit our Registration page or contact us at lcf@iclei.org to learn more.

Will I receive a receipt?

You will receive a confirmation email (which includes a payment receipt) once you register. Please be sure to check your spam folder as the emails may have been sent there. If you have not received these emails within 24 hours, please email us at lcf@iclei.org.

Can I register on the behalf of someone else?

You can fill out the registration form with the information of the person who will be attending the Forum. Note that the confirmation email (which includes the payment receipt) and all future Forum communications will be sent to the email address entered in the registration form.

Are registrations transferable?

Registrations can be transferred any time before October 18, 2024 at 5 pm ET.

Are refunds available?

Cancellations before September 18, 2024 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available after September 18, 2024.

Program and speakers

Where can I see the program?

The program is available on the program page. You can also sign up to ICLEI Canada’s email list if you would like to receive program updates.

Will there be options for virtual participation?

LCF sessions are uniquely designed as interactive and engaging workshops, trainings, and discussion forums, with most including extensive time for delegates to interact and engage in dialogue with one another. As a result, the sessions are not suitable for online streaming, and we do not foresee hybrid components in the program.

Will this be a bilingual event?

We are pleased to offer LCF as a bilingual event, with several opportunities for simultaneous translation between English and French. Please contact lcf@iclei.org for more information on which sessions will be accessible to French delegates.

Who will be speaking at the event?

LCF highlights perspectives from over 80 speakers, facilitators, workshop hosts, and panelists from across Canada. We are working hard to convene diverse speakers who can share stories, innovative ideas, and lessons, while engaging in thoughtful, valuable dialogue with delegates. Sign up to ICLEI Canada’s email list to be the first to receive LCF speaker announcements.

Can I speak at the event or make a recommendation for a speaker?

There is no open call for speakers for LCF 2024. Rather, we design the LCF program internally in collaboration with partners and/or sponsors based on general trends and needs we observe through our work with municipalities across the country. We also carefully design the sessions to make these interactive, ensure they showcase a range of perspectives, and bring about lively and actionable discussions. If you would like to sponsor or partner with ICLEI Canada on this event or on specific sessions, please visit the Sponsorship page, or reach out to lcf@iclei.org

Venue and location

Where is the 2024 Livable Cities Forum being held?

LCF 2024 took place on October 23 to 25, 2024 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, B.C., on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. More information is available on the Venue 2024 page.

Are discounted hotel rates available?

Special room rates at the Westin Bayshore have been negotiated for Forum attendees only. Attendees can book before Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to get the reduced rate of $359.00 plus taxes on a first-come first-served basis. This special rate is available to attendees for three days pre- and post-conference, based on availability, for those who would like to extend their stay. Learn more and book now by visiting the 2024 Venue page.

How should I travel to the LCF?

The LCF 2024 is being designed with sustainability practices at its core. We recognize the environmental impact of travel, especially air travel, and its effect on our sustainability goals. Where possible, delegates are encouraged to travel using low-carbon travel options. Once you have arrived in Vancouver, the Forum venue can easily be accessed on foot or bike by way of the Seawall waterfront path, or by public transportation from the Vancouver International Airport, Pacific Central Bus Station, and Pacific Central Train Station as well as various BC ferry terminals.

For those flying into Vancouver, discounted rates have been negotiated with Air Canada, WestJet, and Porter airlines to make travel more affordable. We encourage using some of these savings towards carbon offset programs. Airline discount codes are listed on the 2024 Venue page.

Are there COVID-19 measures in place?

While there are no current restrictions on in-person events, we encourage delegates to wear protective face masks during the LCF should they wish to.
